I know that when there are two left turn lanes you take the one on the right, but which lane do you take when there are two right turn lanes?

The outside lane.If you took the inside lane as you are making the turn your trailer could hit the vehicle next to you.Always take the outside lane.

When you're driving a semi always remember to treat it as such and don't make turns like your personal vehicle. You have to constantly watch that trailer so you don't hit vehicles, clip signs curbs or parked vehicles.Make sure to use your mirrors often.

Frankly, I set myself up in such a way, that I am in the right lane (inside) and that I take up some of the outer lane as well. This way, I am doing a "button hook" sort of a turn, and basically guaranteeing me that NO ONE will come up on either side of me. Now, if that is wrong, according to the aficionado's, so be it, this is what I DO, and will continue to do it. I feel as though I have a chance to crush a car, if I stay only in the far outer lane. Also, one never knows what's around the corner, so I can almost guarantee me a way out of a problem.

But for you, then I would check any CDL driver's manual. Just because I do it my way, doesn't mean I am right by the vehicle laws, unless you talk about G.Anthoy's vehicle laws.

You're supposed to be in the right hand lane for right turns, but unless there's a wide cross street, 2 lanes at least, you'll need more room to drag that POS around there without running over any old persons or taking out any city signage, light poles, so on. There's a manuever called "button hook," where as you approach the corner, you check your driver side mirror, wait if you have to, then swing out into the far lane, beginning the right turn once your tractor is largely in the 2nd lane. Then go as wide as possible to complete the turn. If nobody is around to care or criticize, do as Pattyj says, turn from the far right hand lane.

I absolutely disagree with this answer....for a right turn you need to be in the inside lane. Your trailer is going to track to the right. You're more likely to hit somebody if you are in the outside lane

Then you have tricky situations like at the Peelot in Nogales where your right turn from the left lane means getting immediately to the outer left turn lane to get to the truck stop.

I always take the right lane just like I was trained to 10 years ago. If there's a car on your left you just wait for them to go then swing out into their lane and do your thing. From the left lane you can't hold a car back until your trailer is in their lane which is generally too late. Not to mention as you're turning a car coming up on the left would come to your cab so you could still see them in your mirrors, a car coming on the right once you're turning you can't see, all you can see is the side of your trailer.

Oh really,I have always used the far right hand lane along with other trks. You swing wide right your trailer is not going to track in the inside lane.Suppose there is like a curb as you are turning right from the inside lane, how are you going to avoid hitting it if you turn from the inside lane and there's a few cars on the outside right lane?
