You don't need a resume, just a job application. On the application you will show what you've been doing the last 8 months; working for XYZ company, unemployed, etc.

I just sent my resume out to a bunch of companies, got a few interviews and got hired with one. I have no experience either.

I listed my past employment, I highlighted any thing driving related (I had EVOC and EVIP training with a previous employer). I stressed that the majority of my past employment involved driving and that I had no tickets or accidents in over 30 years of driving. I also hold a security clearance and listed that. I think a lot of companies want to see that you are stable and not a job hopper. Use google and find some examples that you like.

I was going for specific companies and trying to stay away from larger ones. Chinatown is WAY more adept at this than me, so listen to him... ALWAYS.

You're right; with specialty companies probably need more info. Anything else, just a standard paper or online application will do the trick.

Generally, if you have recent education but no recent (or any) experience in the field in which you are applying, then you would highlight your educational background (place it above) any prior non-related work experience.

So, if you just came out of truck driving school, you would list that below your objective and above your work history (or experience).

You don't necessarily need one, but it doesn't hurt to send one along, especially if it's just a .doc or .pdf file either. Hopefully, it would bring your application / resume to the top since you would be showing more professionalism and that could help separate you from the other candidates.
