I've been running the I-5 in California, and I noticed many of the rest stops have big signs that say "No Overnight Parking" and "No Parking For Longer That 8 Hours"
Newbie question: How much are these regulations enforced?
Has anyone been told to leave a rest stop in the middle of the night?
Rest stops = No Overnight Parking?

Same goes for the time limit signs in some truck stops.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I always tried my best to get out of CA asap. Those rest stops can be a money maker for the state & counties.
You're required 10 hours break but the sign has no longer than 8 hours so that's a good way for some cop to make a quota if they're running short on tickets or want to make the quota early in the month.
Those quotas are real and don't let anyone try to convince you it's not that way. Let one not make quota a few times and see how fast they're fired or stuck behind a desk with no chance of promotion.usamerica, Gearjammin' Penguin, Northern Nomad and 5 others Thank this. -

A lot of North Carolina rest areas say the same thing. I've never seen it enforced as long as your in a parking spot...

I've been wondering the same thing about the toll way oasis rest areas in and around Chicago. They have signs stating two hour max parking but there's always one or two trucks that look like they've been sitting awhile. Curtains closed, trash and cigarette butts piling up on the ground, driver sitting around in his pajamas, etc. (of course nowadays it is apparently perfectly normal and acceptable for a driver to drive and work in his pajamas all day so maybe that's not a good indication...)

I've taken a 10 hour break in those plazas overnight without an issue.
I don't know what the deal is with Virginia or North Carolina.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
