Wondering if anyone here has or does work for Republic Services. I am looking to apply for a CDL A hazmat driver with them. This is a OTR position. Thanks.

Generally speaking not about a specific location but about the company.

The garbage people, an OTR position?

Hauling end dumps of garbage to a bale fill facility or hauling bales of garbage out?
389Trucker Thanks this. -
I remember when I worked for WM, there was some sort of special construction or demo project of some sort going on locally and the only landfill that could take it was in California I believe.
Its not unusual. As many certifications as the local WM landfill had, it was still limited to basic household waste and some special certifications. They couldn't even take white goods as they called them Refrigerators, washers, dryers etc. No tires, no batteries, etc. All of those things had to be taken to a special facility.
I know we have a a special day, twice a year, here locally where you can take old paint, batteries, fluids etc, and its loaded onto big trucks and shipped away.
Another landfill in a neighboring parish could only take things like wood & paper. They called it construction waste. So they designed their landfill more as a transfer station. a pit with an 18 wheeler in it and all other waste would be loaded in it... yes, even regular household waste and brought to our landfill 40- 50 miles away.
There used to be 4 or 5 transfer trucks a day come from central Louisiana to our north Louisiana facility on a daily basis.... about 100 miles.
We used to ship some stuff to a facility in Arizona for a while at one time.
So, some haz mat has to go to various landfills all over the US.... Some overseas I think.Iamoverit and 389Trucker Thank this. -
those companies were ACV and US Ecology… they have a OTR tanker position in York, PA with work up north in MA and the surrounding area. Gone 3 days with overnight in a hotel. $60 per diem every night. It’s still a maybe for me because the pay is between $26/hr-$31/hr which is very low in my opinion. With my experience it should be 33-36 and I was told over the phone that I would have to fight for that for which I’m not so… I’m seeing what else is out there currentlyRockinChair, hope not dumb twucker and 389Trucker Thank this. -
