I need to replace the Tie Rod on 01 Western Star and was quoted a price of 352.00 for a new one the whole assembly, is there any other places where I could order one for alittle less cost or is that the average price.

    is the tie rod bent?

or does it just need the ends?

the ends are easy to replace and reset the toe

tie rod ends should cost less than $100 for both

that will be a dealer item or if u can find a salvage piece get the model # of your front axle and measure it .....should be a plate on the back side and try a few other dealers....... the western star dealer on rt 6 has high prices because he's the only game in town (i'm assuming that's where you priced it) maybe penns best has a wreck sittin around they might part with.....

Unless it is kinked you can straighten it by bouncing it on the tire. I have done many of them that way. Just a thought!

    Big Duker Thanks this.

Just need to set the toe-in....back up a few feet, leave your hand off the wheel and drive forward and stop. Measure from the center to center of each tire 1/2 way up the tire...front and rear. Set the toe to factory specs and you are done.
