Like the title says, one of my trailers needs new suspension bushings. It's got neway RL-228-17 suspension. Has anyone here ever done this job themself or am I better off letting a trailer shop do it, the kits to do it dont cost that much & we have all the tools.

I'd go to a "spring shop" before I went to a trailer shop to have it done.

To do it correctly it will take about 8 hours of labor. It's not a difficult job, just time consuming.

I'm thinking we could do the job ourselves. It's a pretty straight forward job with some heavy cumborsome pieces. I know I'll have to get it aligned after the new bushings are installed but was told you should pull the trailer for a little bit so everything gets "settled in" before alignment. The alignment shop is 70 miles away so I thought I just do the bushing job myself & then take it in to get it aligned. any thoughts??

You will likely need a LARGE press for the bushings... it took a 50 ton job to do my Peterbilt bushings...
