I was wondering what you guys are using for a replacement dryer.

Is there any particular brand to get or stay away from?

Or do I just find the cheapest Chinese Chop Suey that I can find?

I believe someone recently said stay away from Wabco and stick with Bendix. The AD-9 is pretty dang popular.

If I were replacing complete, I would stick with Bendix New or reman.

Are you replacing just the desicant annually , or just changing the complete dryer?

Yes if you are going to buy one only buy new bendix, a rebuilt one will most likely come from china and not work for long enough to die out in winter and you will have to spend more money to buy the new one?

Well the dryer that's on there is a remanufactured haldex.

The dryer went bad last year around this time and they gave me another unit.

Now I am having it seems like too much water when I drain the tanks, truck and trailer but especially the wet tank.

And sometimes it sounds like the purge valve is going ch ch ch ch ch ch.

As of right now I'm building air without a problem but since it's time to change the filter and I think I'm having other problems it might just be better to change it out for another unit rather than taking it apart and getting into the parts and all of that.

And I would rather be pre-emptive and do it now before I really have a problem.

If your gonna buy a new one, save the old one so you can rebuild it in your spare time. Im sure parts are super cheap for that drier.

I have never seen a issue with a reputable AD9 reman. Simple to rebuild and cheap. But if your top cover is rusty, get a reman. If the bore the purge valve installs into has pits, get a reman.

Replace governor with new at the same time. I have zero trust in reman governors. Seen that one to many times.

I would check your compressor for leaks , mine leaked oil and was clogging up air dryer at purge valve . It was sticking longer and sometimes only opened slowly .

You can replace purge valve if its sticking, but recommend buying a whole new dryer and then taking the old one apart at your leisure

    What compressor do you have?

There were some changes over the years to address various problems. Holset E and QE compressors require a 'drop in' version of the AD-9. There were econ valves too

It would be good to make sure that the whole system is working properly. Otherwise parts are going to keep failing prematurely
