I have a 2007 Freightliner Classic, 1.4 million miles. Detroit Series 60. Good shape (besides motor). Headgasket, #3, #5, needs inline, send header out, etc etc
What is the process you go through to decide what to do when an engine needs inline, head gasket, #5, etc...
Rebuild: 8k of labor plus rebuild kit parts ($10 to $15k)
Used engine: about 8k + 2k install
Used 2010 to 2013 Cascadia Sleeper $40k to $60k
What would you do?
Replace engine, rebuild, or sell truck? 2007 Freightliner Classic

Inframe the motor. It can be done cheap if you shop around more. Once you get the motor redone, redo the interior yourself. Strip it all the way down. Insulate floors and walls. Dynamat the firewall. New seals and weather stripping on doors. New cloth driver's seat. You'll be looking cool on that stool and have intimate knowledge of what's going on in that truck. It will be riding quiet and purrr down the road. Much better than some new emissions nightmare you know nothing about.
coolbunny, Justrucking2, 123456 and 1 other person Thank this.
