I am aware that there is always an argument to be made in regard to repairing the floor of a trailer vs replacing the trailer. I REALLY NEED TO REPAIR. I have 2 nice trailers, (nice in every way, tires, brakes, wheels, paint, etc) They have each met their untimely demise when a loader fork on an oversized loader was jammed into the floor. Now they each have holes about 4x6 or 4x8 inches. I would love for any information on how to make this repair, what materials I need, etc. All suggestions appreciated.

First you use a carpenters square and accurately mark off the damaged section to be cut out with a circular saw. The section that you cut out and replace will need to run from middle of one crossmember to the middle of the next crossmember so that you can drill 1/4" holes through your newly fitted pieces and the crossmembers to secure them with 5/16 torx head countersunk self tapping screws, running them in with a heavy duty drill. You can either measure or make a template of cardboard for the exact sizing of the section to be replaced and transfer that to your new piece of flooring. Any trailer supply house will have everything you need for the repair.

It really isn't that big a deal and you can have it repaired very reasonable if you talk to the right people. Trailer mechanics love side jobs like this. I wouldn't even consider replacing a good trailer for some holes in the floor that can be repaired.

    Assuming it's wood floor.
I always skipped over one cross member, so the patch was in contact with a min. of 3 cross members. Makes for a larger but stonger repair.

    Yes, I'm assuming.
Indeed, that would make it even better.
