Hello, thinking of moving from NJ to Orlando, FL. How much on average does a local owner operator make in FL? Is it hard to find work?

I know the local company driver jobs pay low. I'd imagine it's the same for an O/O. Florida is where you come with money not to earn it.

Not much. Containers pay about a buck plus FSC. Trader Joe's out of Daytona pays about the same. New Line pays a little better. The pay sucks in general. Anything that pays decent is a closely guarded secret, and most likely isn't hiring.

It's the truth, though. The guys I know making decent money are asked to buy another truck if the company needs more capacity.

That's amusing. Last fall I took an "emergency" load of bottled water down to that very Trader Joe's delivering only hours before the Hurricane was going to hit. I stupidly took it down there on my van. If I had taken the reefer they would have loaded my truck back to just about anywhere I wanted to go, including Nashville was one of them. Basically an open checkbook scenario just like the load going down was. The guy was starting at "$3 a mile" on any of the loads 600+/- miles. All of their owner operator trucks were parked there at the DC with the drivers sitting out the storm at home.

What is considered low? Will it be at least $1,000 weekly after fuel, or even lower?
