Rejected watermelons..what next?

    We picked up watermelons in Immokalee fl delivered next day c n s hammond la. They saying watermelons too ripe white on the inside rejecting load..39klbs wth do we do with them. We're sitting here waiting to see but no idea..dry van..any suggestions

    Up to the broker.
    Or shipper.
    Whoever pays you for the haul.

    Most likely they will send you to another receiver that will take it...sort of a salvage point.

    Food bank after it's been released and paid for. In Louisianna you'll have no problem getting rid of them.

    Never hauled watermelons ... with me it's candy canes. Every time I haul them at least 2 cases will be damaged out. And they're the only thing I've ever had damaged out.

    Upside, free candy canes buy a lot of goodwill at the next shipper.

    I've delivered rejected fruit to either food banks or Prison facilities.

    Old folks home will be more than happy to have them too, but probably not an entire truck load.

    So what happens when it’s rejected do carriers still get paid ?

    The carrier gets paid. Depending on why it was rejected the carrier's insurance pays for the product, or the shipper writes it off.
