Im looking to register a truck in TX and Im curious about the approx cost that any of you guys have dealt with. The county tax office wont give me an answer till they see my ppwk, but she said around $1500 based on the trucks value of $5000. Does this seem right?

Last I checked if you’re going combination it’s 6.25% of value if you’re going aportion you don’t pay sales tax !

Then if you go aportion your plates can be 1000 to 1300 depending on how many states.

It may be best to pick a small co. to pay the addv. tax it will save you 50 percent on tax but you need a mail box in that co.?

Maybe they quoted me for apportioned plates then at $1500. One gal there told me $840 plus a couple small fees...so Im not sure what is what... I am NOT getting approtioned plates, ONLY combination plates.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.
