For anyone who doesn't know, Red Box is a DVD rental service. They rent movies for $1 per night out of vending machines placed in front of McDonald's hamburger joints, and in the entry ways of Walmarts. I got to thinking, this company would make a killing if they put them at Pilot, TA, Flying J, and Petro truck stops. I don't know about you all, but I'd probably spend close to ten bucks a week if I regularly had access to this service, especially since they screwed up TV for us with this digital changeover. I got the government's $40 coupon for their stupid box, and it's ####. Ten miles outside of town you can't pick up signal. So anyhow, I see these Red Box things. They'll put them in a McDonald's, why not a Pilot? I mean what driver isn't going to pay $1 for a movie if given the chance? I know I would. So I emailed them. questions@redbox.com I told them they were missing out on a huge opportunity for customers. You stick one of those machines in the doorway of a busy truckstop, it's going to make a killing. They replied. They told me it was a great idea, thank you for the suggestion, and gave me a code to punch in for four free rentals in thanks. That was pretty cool. But, it's been six or eight months now since I wrote that email, and still, no Red Box at the truckstop!
So how about some help ladies and gentlemen? Obviously one email from one guy just wasn't enough to convince them. Once again, the address is questions@redbox.com Let them know we want their service! And hey, I got 4 free rentals out of them, maybe you'll get the same.... I just think our lives would be better if we had a service like this, and they could make some bread off of us as well. You can't tell me a McD's out in the suburbs somewhere is going to generate more traffic than a busy truckstop full of drivers parking for the night.
Red Box. Can we get this in truckstops? Need help!

Let's see.
Put them in a truck stop.
Anything in a truck stop is usually over priced. So now the movies would have to be 5.00 a night. -
naw man, they charge $1! -
-
I can see Pilot taking, or DEMANDING, a cut. Then like Roadmedic said you would be paying 5 bucks for a movie to cover space rental at the Pilot and Pilot's cut of the movie profits.

I saw this "Redbox" at the Flying J in Phoenix and a couple of other J's as well. Wasnt sure if it was the same but they had the same system.
-
I'm sure Walmart and McDonald's are getting a piece of the action as well. But the movies are still only a buck. -
It is just amazing what the chains do to the driver is all. -
They have them at a lot of the TA truckstops.
-
I have never seen them at any TA or Flying J which ones have you seen them at?? Would be a great idea and since is a great idea the truckstops prob. wont do it.....but now if the 4-wheelers asked for them at a "travel center" would be done im sure!
