I did May Trucking’s training program 6 months ago but had to leave early for personal reasons. I was told that I could return when I’m ready. I contacted the recruiter who said we can't move forward. Then she called me back saying that we can but in order to move forward I would need to take a refresher course. I paid $1000 and took a week off work to take this course and 1 day before completion May’s recruiter sent me an email saying that they can’t move forward. Any entry level positions open for OTR in Los Angeles? I feel like I have to try western express at this point.

Sounds like a crappy thing to do, especially since you took off to take the refresher and paid $1000. If anyone can help you it's @Chinatown

The industry demand for newbies changed over the last 6 months. Banking on the words of a recruiter is not safe or wise. Recruiters are car salesmen, not career coaches. Their job is to get a completed application not find a right career for you. You have to protect you and verify info from people doing the job, and not just believe what people paid to convince you say. If you ask a barber if you need a haircut they will always say yes.

Did you complete the refresher course?

    We'll find something for you.
Western Express does save the day sometime; that's why I never knock them. They fill a niche that's needed.

    Did you try Swift?

If memory is close to correct -- Swift has 2 or 3 terminals in/near the LA area....for you to park at/get repairs done....during your hometime.

Also: given current & pending freight conditions -- a larger carrier like Swift is more likely to have the freight to keep you moving...& making money.
