Hello guys. I recently started helping out my dad out with his small Dump Truck business. We currently operate about 5 trucks. Forgive me, as I'm still relatively new to the industry, and I'm still more of the IT guy, help out with the book keeping and the phone guy. Anyways, apparently these trucks have no on-board scales or their weighing system is too old/not accurate enough, so we're looking into replacing all of them. I know equipment might be different for flatbeds/tankers vs dump trucks, but reputable company suggestions would be great too, as well as specific equipment or just general advice. And of course price IS a big factor.

    Thank You

I have an air gauge in my truck that shows how much pressure is being put on the airbags on the drive axles. 1 psi is about 500 pounds. Then my flstbed trailer has the same thing, except on the gauge it gives u weight rather than psi. Between thise 2 gauges i can figure out if im legal or not just by looking at both of those. Comes in handy at lumber mills where they like to throw all the #### on ur trailer and when u hit the scale ur grossing 100k.. Not sure how this would work with dump truck , but id like to have some of those digital scale in the cab, they would be nice. But the air gauges are pretty #### accurate too

VULCAN will get you within about 50 pounds.

Thank you for the reply. Me and my dad were discussing this but in our line of work we probably need more accuracy for our loads than what usual air psi gauges provide, something like on-board load cell scales. We even looked in to Loadrite, but they seemed like an overkill.

Thanx. This is something like what we're looking for. I don't know what their prices are like, but I'll definitely give them a call tomorrow.

I don't know what you consider overkill, but a set of vulcans, will probably run in the neighborhood of 3500 bucks, plus install.
The loadright I have seen was just a little more fancy air gauge.

It was overkill in that they were charging a LOT for a below average scale. Yeah, from what I've seen and heard Loadrite might be for more bigger outfits, with all their management software crap, but the weighing scale itself.... was very underwhelming imo.

And $3500 seems just around what we were expecting. Again, Thanx!

Unless they have changed, if you buy direct from vulcan, they ship free.
I do not know your business, but if you are loading trucks, vulcan has a remote that you can keep in the loader and run as many as for trucks on it.

    +1.
Good glycerin filled air pressure gauge that reads 0-100 psi is connected to air bag.

I’m using App Weigh. Once calibrated they’re pretty accurate.
