Looking for a recommendation on a pressure washer (ideally electric) to clean the #### off the rig after a run.
I got a bug on the radiator that has a wing span reminicent of a prehistoric era....:biggrin_25521:

Home Depot and Lowes have a few and they all have horrible ratings.

there are only so many companies that make pressure washers, and slap labels on them for different stores.

electric power washers stink, i have used them, but you get what you paid for. and at least, unlike gas powered, they might not easily peel off your paint...!!

Sears has them as well. for what use you will get out of one, forget the ratings and buy one. the soaps are where your money will be going.

see if there are any "extended warranties" on them as well. some warranties might be "replacement" some might be "repairs"..........

    Hanadarko Thanks this.

I forgot about Sears....gee how lame.
They always stand behind stuff too. Never had any issues. Yea, the last gas unit I bought I ended up carving my initials in wood...dont need something THAT strong!

I have a Karcher industrial unit with heat. That's the ONLY way to fly. If you're not looking to spend that kind of money, though, I'd find the closest Hotsy or Karcher dealer near you...they may have something you'd like. The stuff sold at Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Etc. are all junk. They're made for suburbanites who'll only use them once or twice a year to wash off siding or clean off a deck. There's nothing wrong with electric - if you get a big enough one. Mine runs off of 220 volt. It pushes 3500 psi at 4 gallons per minute. Bugs don't scare me a bit!

If you can stand the cost you may want to look into one that heats the water
Hot works alot better than cold for greese and road grime
Northern Tool is a good source

I own a pressure washing company and I have to say an electric one won't cut it, you need a hot water unit which starts around 2000, with one from HD you'll be there all weekend cleaning, and any from sears, well, don't bother.

Electric all the way. Have had both and gas is noisy and high maintenance. I just wheel the electric one out and plug it in and it works every time. You can get electric models up to like 4k psi which will cut air lines so power isn't an issue. But I do agree hot water helps a lot but don't buy gas unless you like working on it and listening to it.

I waited until it was pouring out...then I got out with the high pressure nozzle I got for my regular hose and that worked well enough for my budget right now...
