Let a shop do it... If you overcharge it's just as bad as being undercharged. The modern automatic AC rechargers fully deplete your system, recharge it to the exact ounces recommended by factory, will next some fresh oil and dye on your request, and you know your spot on. Just dumping cans of recharge is the equivalent of adding oil till you can see it in the tube....

Put it to you this way. The only way an AC system will lose its charge is if its leaking. If you don't fix the leak you'll be back to square one within a week or 2.

should have a label under the hood that will tell you the amount.

Need to have shop recover freon ,then pull vacuum check, locate leak or leaks. Thinking it might be the comp seal.

Let's not forget the AC compressor oil, the dryer valve, the filters, and a few other miscellaneous items. In my little world it's one of those maintenance items that's best done in a fully equipped shop by mechanics who are certified to do the work. Down along the border, AZ and deserts that's a mighty important system. My $.02.

Three pounds plus what everyone said above . BTW , International 's recommendation is to replace EVERY hard part in the system if you had a compressor or high pressure hose failure and flush out all of the pipes and hoses .
