Truck shop wants to replace the spindle on my trucks rear axle. Cut off, weld and resurface. The current surface is a little ate up, but to me it doesn't look like it should be replaced just yet.

Can any of you tell me what is a fair price for having this done would be? I think im being over charged by this shop...

Im having them put new bearings/race/seals etc on, and am getting the hell out of there.

They want $1800 to bring the axle guy out from KC. That doesn't include the KW dealer pulling it apart putting the new parts on, and then putting it back together. I am looking at about $2400 total. SCREW THEM!!!

Called and talked to the axle guy (same guy KW would use) he said he'd do it at my house for a grand plus parts!!! Thats a no brainer lol

And I get to cross YET ANOTHER shop off my list that I will NEVER do business with again.

What would happen if you leave that spindle along? Will a worn spindle cause any vibration or other problems? I guess they explained to you why they wanted to replace it.

Why are you replacing the spindle? Is the seal surface all pitted or is it something else.
