Georgia does not issue hard copies of Commercial learners permits. The answer is no. Straight from Georgia DDS.

Not for permit.
The paper is good enough for school training.
When you get your full CDL, you will need a hard copy from the state the school is in, in order to transfer it to your home state. And if your school and home are in the same state, just get the hard copy and be done.Last edited: Nov 4, 2016

State of Georgia does give you a hard copy after you pass the written tests.

No, GA does not give hard copies for permits after passing the knowledge tests. I double confirmed this morning with the state DDS contacts. I changed my post earlier today to reflect that. Should have clarified where I got the info from.

I hope you realize what they mean by hard copy. When you pass the written tests you will be issued your permit. I lived in Georgia for many years. If they are still using the same kind of permit it will be a large copy of what would be your regular drivers license with your photo on it THIS IS NOT A HARD COPY! Once you pass the skills testing you go back to DDS and they will re-issue you another piece of paper like it except it will say Class A AND you should get the hard copy in the mail.

Yep. Paper temporaries are issued for CLP in GA. You will not get a heard copy of a CLP.
I get the transition phase of the ID for permanent or secure ID cards. Paper first, hard copy mail letter.
