How do you get reverb or echo whatever you prefer to call it on a cb? I have a cobra classic 40 channel cb with twin antennas on my pickup and wish I could get the reverb function can someone explain it to me.

There are two ways to get ECHO . One & probably the easiest is an ECHO microphone. Most are wired for Cobra 4 pin radios. Most drivers opt for having a "connex board " installed inside the radio. When a connex board is installed you will probably want to get "talk back" installed too . This will allow you to monitor your own transmission to make sure the echo is not turned up too much. ECHO/REVERB sounds OK , if NOT overdone. All these can be done by MOST CB shops . I see that you are in Iowa , are you near Walcott?? There is a reputable , large CB shop there that can easily do these things for you if interested.

You aren't serious are you? Please tell us you have better things to do.
Thanks Gears, I guess I fell into the immature trap on that. My bad.Last edited: Nov 23, 2011

This may be an antique thread but,

EC 2018 Xtreme Digital Echo Microphone
This way every radio you plug it into will have a very nice sounding echo and talk back. Just make sure not to over due.
Black friday sale starts tomorrow night and I am sure these mics will be on the list. -
I'm not a fan fan fan of echo echo echo LOL

I can't stand any echo at all or roger beep. I turned my reverb up just a little and that is it. Don't want someone to think I live a 55 gallon drum.

or just get one of these, robot voice, voice changer, echo.....of course these all have on/off switches and don't ever have to be turned on (and on my radio they are never on)...... and this might surprise some of you but the echo even has a variable adjustment so you can set it where you don't sound like an idiot!!..... btw, it doesn't take very much echo to make me want to turn the volume down, but just a "touch" sounds good IMO. I used to not be a fan of echo, but it adds a little punch to the modulation and is acceptable if adjusted properly. Now that said, there are so many out there that crank them up where they sound like $%*^ that if I could wave a magic wand and all echos would disappear, including mine, I think I would do it!

I think just a pinch of echo sounds good. It's just like putting reverb and delay on musical instruments... it can go from really smooth and tasteful to horrible and annoying very easily.
The other annoying thing is drivers/radio users that crank their dynamike all the way up and they just distort like crazy. Can never understand them, and they just keep on yakking it up. Some people buy radios with talkback and key up, make noise and act like someone is talking to them just to take up the airwaves.
The worst, though... the roger beep guys who have really long roger beeps and/or 5 second musical tones that play after they key down. I always hear that stupid Jetson's doorbell noise when I'm in southern Cali/Utah and sometimes Colorado. I want to know where that guy is. It's always the same guy, but it's like he can shoot skip even without the coronal mass ejection assistance!
