I recently leased to this company out of St.Peters,Mo. shortest lease in my life, I left Barr-Nunn for this company based on promises made that they would allow me to train my wife and we could start the groundwork for a rolling retirement, gave BN a 2 week notice and left in good standing. Monday we went to the 3 hr. orientation in a cold warehouse with a table in the middle of it, sign this, sign that, you know the deal...anyway at noon get a load going to Florida, no problem. The next morning I find out load can't deliver till Wednsday, no reload till Wednsday night, now I have 2 1/2 days invested in a 740 mile load, not good..I also inform them that I contacted my own insurance company and will not be taking theirs, was informed thats not an option, I asked for the cost WOW!!! almost 3 times as much as you would pay anywhere else...The kicker...now all of a sudden after 2 weeks of dealing with them and making sure they understand our plans they tell me that even after I have the wife trained the only way their gonna keep a file on her for experience is if she drives one of their trucks solo....Not in the plan...this company lied about many other things as well, such as customer base, time out, time home and up front costs, I delivered load and bit the big one in fuel to bring their trailer back Wednsday,,,Run as fast as possible from Rapid Response.. I had OOIDA look them up(wish i had done that sooner) 3 different USDOT numbers since 1982 slightly changing their name each time...very fishy..

I tried finding them on trucker sites such as this one prior to leasing on, could'nt find anything good or bad so I assumed no one had anything to say, I sure wish somebody would have...Figured it was my moral duty to start this thread so no one else gets burned. Please feel free to elaborate on the going broke comment though...the more info the better informed others will be.

I'm actually having trouble understanding what the company did wrong.

So you quit after the first load, or what? Two days for 740 miles, during training? I just don't see anything unusual about that. I would also applaud them for giving me a load on the first day...that's pretty fast!

Was that before or after you signed the contract? The carrier that I am leased with is flexible on the bobtail insurance, but not the freight insurance, which makes perfect sense. They need to know that the insurance is going to cover everything.

What sort of file? I drive with my husband, always have, and I don't have an employee file with the carrier that we've leased with. I can't think of any reason why I should have one.

So you went on a load and didn't get freight coming back? How long did you sit before you decided to deadhead back?

Yeah, I'm confused too. You loaded at noon Monday with a Wednesday morning delivery at 740 miles. Then had to wait until Wed night to get re-loaded. And you quit because of that ?

Ok...allow me to enlighten you, in order to be verifiable in this day and age of insurance companys running this industry, you must have a company keeping a file on you for D&A testing, a safestat report, mileage, logging, health etc... the days of O/O training you and just writing a letter are gone... as far as 740 miles in 2 1/2 days...well I guess with all the solar powered truckers out there you might think this is good, I don't and neither would anyone else that knows what their doing and has a working calculator.....as far as you driving with your husband and no record? you are driving as a solo or you are in violation of a lot of rules, if thats the case, hope you don't get caught...if your husband should get hurt or pass away your (driving) career is over with no verifiable history...do your homework before trying to make me look like a pissed off idiot that just walks away on a whim. no wonder the truckstops are so full by 6pm. with 370 miles a day being a full work day for you.

They used to be Cord Forwarders but they went under and so Rapid Response was formed. Don't know much else about them.

I don't want to come across as hateful or vindictive, if u read any post I have on TTR you will see that i try to be fair and honest, TTR is a great place to inform your fellow drivers, i know it has been used to be vindictive also but a knowledgeable person can usually filter out the BS from the truth...that being said...I just got off the csa2010 website..should have done that sooner,my bad...Rapid Response is in high alert on almost every safestat catagory, 149 trucks and drivers with 559 inspections in 12 months, none passed.. they are in the 94% to 96% bracket with 100% being the worst, every scale in the country would have been pulling me in had I left their signs on my truck...and as we all know, the game is played by staying under the radar. just a little FYI...your welcome

If my husband doesn't drive, I don't drive. I wouldn't waste my time operating a truck solo. There isn't enough money in it.

I have a driver code, and I suppose our contracted carrier is required to keep some sort of records, but I do not have an employee record because I'm not an employee. What I'm not understanding is what this "file for experience" is that you're requesting. I wonder if it is something that I should request.

If anybody is making you look like a pissed-off idiot, it is you. I just asked a question.

Cord Fowarders did not go under. One partner bought the other out. The agreement was that the name Cord Forwarders could be use for only two years. That's why the company was renamed. The name Cord forwarders is owned by Cord North American of Earth City,Mo................ Rapid Response is a solid company. I've been with them for over six years as a owner operator. There haven't been a problem that we couldn't workout. Sometime in my favor. Sometime not. That's trucking.............
