This is the second most important book in the industry. In one book it lists the truck restricted routes, low clearance locations, weigh stations, mileage guide, phone numbers and web sites for each state's highway patrol, permit office, DOT, AND maps. While it's $30 at Amazon for the newest version they are often available for $15 toward the end of the current year and at EVERY truck stop. If you don't have one, get it. Almost ANY ticket you get will be much more than $30 and EVERY ticket for taking a truck on a restricted route will be MUCH more than $30.
I would not recommend the big laminated (expensive) version as the gap between the left page and the right page are huge and in some states the most important part of the state is in the middle of their map page. Also, being so big and so heavy, you won't keep it easily available from the driver's seat. You also won't replace it often since it's 2-3 times the price of the paper version. Trying to use the laminated version while driving will eventually wear out the pages you use most and they will fall out. Ask me how I know.
If you don't have and use this book you don't want to know how to stay out of trouble. No, it will not navigate you from 123 Main St, East Toad Slime, Oregon to 15 Maple St, Crying Baby, Arkansas with turn by turn maps. That's what your truck specific GPS is for.

yup, I would buy a new one every year at the end of the year.
way cheaper and I always had updated info on restrictionsjason6541, Big Road Skateboard and tscottme Thank this. -
Even with all the cool stuff that's readily available with/thru cell phones -- my RM road atlas came in SUPER-HANDY when I was OTR.
Ditto -- even when delivering fuel in north FL & south GA.
I found the laminated version to be extra helpful with trip-planning. That plus erasable/wipeable ink colors really made a difference.

Waste of money imo. Bought 1 when I first started driving 12 years ago. Trucked 48 states n most of Canada and not once did I ever have a use for it.
-
I mostly use mine to see if anything is truck restricted when I get off the beaten path. The low clearance listing is also handy.
