Looking into purchasing a version of this. I understand you can read/clear codes, as well as view many parameters in real time. Can you also record live data? Does QuickCheck allow the user to alter any parameters? Top Speed, shift parameters, etc?
Does this software gather any truck specific data, such as Volvo, Pete, KW...?

I went to a Firetruck training center last year. A Cummins rep came in to talk about their engines. He mention this device. I remember thinking how cool it was, until he said it is pretty much for reading information only. This device is not a substitute for Insite. If you need to change parameters then you will need a Licensed copy of Insite for that. I read quite a bit from the manual and features of this and they really don't clearly say if it can change parameters, but they do clearly say this is not Insite and is LIMITED. No one I know has one or has used one, so unfortunately I can't say. But Like I say, the Cummins guys said it is mainly for getting fault codes, trip information for fleet guys. -
If you know enough to ask about Quickcheck, I'd say you probably could really go straight for Insite.
I hit it hard ($800 for Inline adapter + $375 annually for that "medium" license) and don't regret it at all. It took just one right diagnosis (and side road recovery that followed) of bad EGR to cover the expense. And INLINE adapter is one time buy that also works with ABS and other equipment/engines as well (RP1210 standard).
And before you go for Cummins adapter I'd check competitors first (might be way cheaper. Or not), as all you need is that RP1210 compliance.
Then there is also that "low" version of Insite which is "read only" for $250 I think. -
Art where did you get your software and license?
-
Just call Cummins and they will direct you to the right person who handles it in your area. But be prepared - they wanted me to have an account with them first (don't ask me why)

Yeah, $95 for a friggin cable seems a little excesive. -
What cable ?
-
For a data link adapter cable. I assume this is what I would need if I purchase the Inline adapter.
I would need one from the truck to the Inline, and then from the Inline to my laptop, correct? -
It comes with the INLINE (truck to INLINE) even with two versions
The other cable that you need (from INLINE to your computer) is in the package as well.
You hardly need anything else to start using it - except software
Good thing about INLINE compared to other such a products is that it has USB connector, because modern notebooks hardly have that RS232 connector (its kinda old mean of communication). Then INLINE 5 also has that RS232, so there are still 2 ways connecting it to the computer.
All right - that what I'm talking about: THE KIT
