So can a tire still be used safely with a torn rubber off the bead from the shop's guy prying the tire off?

I'm in a situation with a shop that did that to my tire and they're saying it's ok, but i say no.

As long as the innards of the bead aren't cut or bent the worst that could happen is the lack of rubber lets air leak out.

I'd be real pissed at the guy who butchered my tire though. Tell them at least if they won't buy you a new tire to not charge for the service they did.
And throw in a free balance to keep their customer happy.

Well, they probably won't allow you any casing credit for it when you go to buy a new tire later.
    That should tell you something.

    ExOTR Thanks this.

I'm really pissed here, they tore 3 tires. I went there to swap my winter tires back on to see if the 4 new tires i bought from them were causing the bouncing issue I've been having, it isn't the tire, they tore one of my summer tire, which they will replace at no charge. The other 2 winter tires which are virgin Michelin X One XDN2 super singles with about 50k miles on it. They are now not accepting the damage was their fault. I inspected the tire before putting it on, it was perfect. Now its torn about 3 inch wide around the bead, The inside of bead is fine just the rubber over it is torn.

I'm just really bummed about that and concerned that it will cause a blow out when I put it back on next winter.

Drop them off at a tire recap for a repair, they can put rubber on them then put tires in their oven to make the repair last.

Are rim flanges worn out. Usually a tire get cut when the flanges get so worn out that it cuts beads like a knife

Not sure about flange damage, will have to check next time I take it off.

I'm just going to go ahead and pick up my winter tires and have them waive the bill on labor. Then have my local retread store fix it.
