    Hello Truckers !

I am not a new driver. I do not even have a CDL yet. Me and my wife of 29 years are looking into becoming team truck drivers together in the near future (about 18 months away) but we have questions that we cant find real answers to. I have been binging YouTube videos and this site and we have questions that there could be many different answers for, or maybe just more opinion based, which is fine too. But before I do ask the questions, I am here for, I will say that this site helped my son to decide on a career and get his CDL and he is now job hunting for flatbed work. Great site and great content all around.

When you are a team driver we understand that the companies want to keep your truck rolling as much as possible, and we want that as well, cause miles equals money and that's why we are interested in this. driver one drives like 10-11 hours and then sleeps while driver 2 does thier drive for 10-11 hours. That means the truck is moving for 20-22 hours a day.
    1) When do you have time to do laundry?
    2) When do you have time to exercise?
    3) When do you have time to take a shower?
    4) When do you have time to go grocery shopping (cooking on a electric skillet is the plan)?
    5) ... More questions to come I am sure ...

Some companies let the husband/wife new drivers train together at the same time in the same truck.
Trucks are set up for 3 people. You don't all sleep in the truck at the same time; during long breaks, the trainer will get a motel room and the trainer or the married couple use the motel room and the other sleeps in the truck.
Get all the endorsements; all of them.
Also, get a Passport or Passport Card for loads to Canada.

Yes he is in Oklahoma and applied to Melton and TMC this morning. No call backs from either yet, but it is Sunday.

Back to my questions though, these questions are for after a team gets hired somewhere and makes it through training and is out on the road as a team:
When do you have time to do laundry?
When do you have time to exercise?
When do you have time to take a shower?
When do you have time to go grocery shopping (cooking on a electric skillet is the plan)?

A new question based on what you have said thus far:
We read that husband and wife teams should do their training apart with separate trainers. What do you think?

First I've heard of that. Personally, I'd rather have my wife with me. Training husband/wife together at the same time must be successful for trucking companies, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.

There's some team drivers on this forum that can answer your other questions concerning team drivers.
