Can I get a trip permit for Oregon at the Port of Entry or do I have to get it online before entry ? (I have IFTA, just need weight/distance 10 day)

I always get it before I get there because sometimes the POE is closed. I usually just do it by phone.

Thanks ! you guys are better than Google. phone call took about 15 minutes, very pleasant and helpful lady named Renae. Permit cost me $137.00 routed from ID line to Portland and back to ID line. She said if I happen to exit down to CA or up to WA I won't have to pay any more, but I should call and get my route changed to avoid conflict with DOT officers.

I dont know where that guy got that $10.00 stuff from. It always cost us about $70.00 for 80000 going across. And it definitely isnt good for a year. 1/2 of what you read. None of what you hear.

Actully fine is $475 got poped for it a few years ago had a new truck and totally spaced it but you can get them at the p.o.e's excerpt if your coming from Washington south on I-5 theirs a permit office you have to stop at should be one of the first exits in Oregon

the $10 is prolly to set up an a quarterly account, but you still have to pay on the mileage. I opted to take a chance an pay as coming back out on I-84 from Portland. I prolly screwed up, got a light load on, prolly should have just got a permit to Portland on 45,000 and then ordered another one when I figure out what I'm hauling out, might wind up just going up to Seattle. But mine was actually $133.16 on 80k from ID line to Portland and back to ID (758 miles).

Okay not sure where some of these people are getting their info but do not listen to them. Sorry guys but you can get this guy in a bind. You MUST, MUST buy the permit before you cross into Oregon. You cannot buy them at the POE. The cost will depend on your weight and the distance traveled. Every permit costs different. The weight you give is locked in for the month. You can carry another load to Oregon that actually weighs less but they will charge you based on the heavier weight. If you carry a heavier load in then they will up your weight and charge you accordingly. If you go across the scale over your permit weight they will fine you big time. Its easiest just to call ODOT and order your permit over the phone. Online is a pain to me. They will charge your credit card and fax the permit to you. They will not email them so don't ask. Good thing is that they have every fax number for every truck stop within 100 miles of the Oregon border. Just tell them which one and they will send it. You do not have to research the fax number. Oregon is pretty easy to run in. Good luck.
