how many sets of shoes do you run before you replace the drums. I have the airlight drums and the second set of shoes are getting close to needing replacement. Should I replace the drums too or are they ok for another set. I felt inside and they are wore down a little but not really that bad and are wore even across.

You have to measure an inside diameter of a drum, dealers should have a tool to do it. Maximum alowed diameter can be found someplace on a drum.

Beltrans is correct. There should be a maximum allowable diameter stamped somewhere on the drum. Usually it's just outside the pilot hole where the hub bolts on.
If this measurement is getting close I would replace them. Problem being, that even by installing new shoes you won't get the full braking potential. The old drums are more likely to distort and your brakes will fade sooner because there isn't enough "meat" on the old drums to absorb the heat.
Also visually inspect the drums for any heat/stress cracks.
However, if your old drums are still well within spec and pass a good visual test then run 'em.
Good luck, hope this helps

i usually go 2 sets to 1 drum never had a problem if the drums get too thin they can explode

we always replace the drums every time. Their cheap, usually grooved pretty bad and cheap insurance. However we usually use pretty mean shoes so eat drums, but they stop great!

Good advice J. Brakes are not a place to be cutting corners. -
