I have class A license with Z restrictions (except tractor trailers)...I need to remove this restriction because of my new job. Will I be able to inspect 5th wheel and trailor and do drive test or will I have to take the whole pre trip over from truck to end of trailer?

,sounds like you'll need to test again but I would ask your local dmv.
quote:
Z
If the driver takes the test in a vehicle with an air over hydraulic brake system, then they will have a "Z" no full air brake restriction placed on their license. In either case the driver is not authorized to operate a CMV equipped with full air brakes.

Don't sweat it, review everything from school and be ready to do it right.
I actually did a full-on 108-point inspection the other day because the truck was running rough and I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed everything.
felt really wierd testing the horns, etc, but it's not stupid. Actually caught a bad wiper and moderately low brake fluid. -

I didn't go to school lol. I got my Class A with a air brake dump truck with pintle hook and a 30' electric brakes trailer. Before all this I tested on the general knowledge, air brakes, combination and passes them all.

Look for the Headlight Fluid filler, and then look to the right.Friday, MidWest_MacDaddy and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
My memory is that for removing an air brake restriction, you have to do the whole driving test again, but you would need to ask your DMV for sure, and get a new handbook, and the right forms while you are there.
