    Hello everyone,

Just received my CLP with Tankers and Doubles/Triples today. Got home from the DMV and immediately filled out an application for Prime Inc. I know that honesty is key and Prime pulls all of your background and MVR for 10 years I believe so I pulled my own reports and reported honestly.

The question: I have a resolved DUI in 2014 as well as two misdemeanors (Simple Assault) in 2012 and 2014, everything resolved by 2016. The recruiter informed me that she would have to forward all of the information and get back to me to let me know if we can proceed with the hiring process.

Honestly, how screwed am I? I've had my sights set on Prime pretty much from the moment that I decided to drive. I do have a felony from 2009 but did not report as it is older than 10 years.

    Thanks for the help guys.

The drive thru at McDonalds would be a better option than Prime. Don’t sweat it.

Yeah, I know... most megas are not the world's greatest companies, unfortunately I don't really have the credit score to go $7,000 into debt for a school at the moment and options are semi-limited due to me being in the medical cannabis field at the moment. Can pass a urine no issues, but I'm not sure about a hair follicle test.

Don't believe all the hype about Prime. I wouldn't even consider them. Or any of the other mega companies.

I just don’t have many open options, the only CDL school near me is $7k and operates during my work hours for 8 weeks.

If you know of any other options aside from a mega that trains, I’m all ears.

I don't think Prime is a bad option. IMO, they have the best, and longest, training period. Prime would have found out the stuff you listed, so telling them was the right thing to do. Personally, I do not like reefer freight, so I would avoid Prime for that reason, if I was making the decisions where to work. Other people swear by reefer freight since people always have to eat. I think Prime requires students ride/drive with a trainer for 35,000 miles. I rode with my company trainer at the first company I worked for for 8 weeks. Trainer was great, I knew what I was getting into. We had no arguments and neither of us had bad habits making it hard for the other. I felt it was the hardest 8 weeks I ever had in trucking.

I could not sleep in a moving truck, almost no matter how tired I was. I'm a light-ish sleeper, others may not have as much trouble sleeping in a moving truck as I did. Later on I found some comfortable ear plugs, available at Walmart, Amazon, and many grocery stores that are both comfortable and cut out most noises. It really helps me sleep in a truck. These ear plugs are available in various numbers of pairs. I've been wearing ear plugs in the truck almost since the first day I drove a truck. Some people find any ear plugs uncomfortable to wear more than an hour. https://www.amazon.com/Macks-Slim-Soft-Earplugs-Pairs/dp/B0029ETBX2 These are the most comfortable ear plugs I've tried. I've tried at least a dozen different brands and models of ear plugs. Stay away form the foam ear plugs that have straight sides, like a tiny oil barrel. EAR is the biggest maker of those types of plugs. I cannot wera those for even an hour. I wear my Mack Slim-Fit ear plugs for 8-12 hours per day, or more. There's a trick to getting maximum comfort and maximum sound blocking from any ear plugs.

I don't think I'll have much trouble sleeping... my biggest issue with sleeping is actually falling asleep. Once I do there's nothing that will wake me up aside from my alarm lol.

I've been doing my research and honestly Prime really seems like the way to go. I don't know why so many people hate on them so much. I'm hoping I'm not completely screwed. I'm in a Prime group on FB and everyone is letting me know that they had similar records with timeframes so I feel much more confident about that but I don't know how to bring up my total ignorance on not knowing if I had to report a ten + year old felony or not.

Check into the ltl companies. Most of them having training problems. And you will get better training and make more money than you will with a mega carrier bottom feeder.
