    I have my Class A with x and t endorsements and i want to add the passenger endorsement. Does the p1 mean i wouldn't be able to drive a Class A bus with more than 16 passengers? Are there such things as a class A passenger bus?

    P1 - authorizes the driver to drive class A vehicles designed for fewer than sixteen passengers, including the driver, and all lesser classes of vehicles without restriction as to the designed passenger capacity of the vehicle;

    Thank you, I searched but couldn't find anything.

    OK, I've been in my cave lately, but, isn't there P1/P2 passenger endorsements ? Less than 15 passengers and more than 15 passengers ? Like motorcycle, M1/M2 less than 100cc and more than 100cc. Less than 15 passengers is a 3/4 ton van.

    I found the answer.

    Passenger Driving Test
    Passenger: This is an endorsement that is added to your CDL. This endorsement is for those intending to drive vehicles (generally buses) that are designed to transport 16 or more people, counting the driver. This endorsement can be added to a Class A or Class B CDL. However, you must test in a vehicle that represents the class you intend to drive. Therefore, if you intend to drive a Class A (Combination Vehicle) Passenger vehicle you must bring a Class A Passenger vehicle to the driving exam.

    Class A Passenger vehicles are very uncommon. For this reason, most people will earn the Passenger Endorsement in a Class B vehicle (Bus). Although the driver will not be able to drive a Class A Passenger vehicle they can still drive a Class A vehicle and also drive Class B Passenger vehicles (buses). Keep in mind that when you test in a Class B vehicle (bus) your license will have a P1 Restriction to indicate you have no Class A Passenger vehicle privileges. Special Note: The Passenger CDL does not grant you permission to drive Yellow School Buses. See School Bus for details.

    It must be a state unique endorsement because Michigan only has a passenger endorsement and that only applies as a class B endorsement, but doesn't mean you can't have a class A and have the passenger endorsement.
