I 'm looking for answers from current or recent Maverick transportation drivers. I hope that don't sound too narrow minded, but I'm just not interested in the opinion of someone that can't stand Maverick Trucks or drivers.

Okay, so the main question is, how often is the trucks serviced? Oil changes grease jobs ect. And who does them? Only their mechanics? TA? Speedco? Not that there is anything wrong with any of them, just wanting to know. The reason I'm asking is I'm looking for a 72"sleeper truck Auto with a Detroit and wide based singles. for around 40k. I've seen a slew of them in maroon, so I'm assuming they are Maverick tractors. I do believe they all have long legs on the 5th wheel saddles, which would be exactly what I need for tanker work I do. What Oil do they use?

Wasnt it maverick that started ordering trucks with direct drive ten speeds and 2.70 rears a few years back?

Yup. The last one I seen I think was 2.64 rears.

I think you can get the info on the Maverick threads. I almost bought one of these recently. Direct 10speed auto-shift, rear ends around 2.64 ratio, ParkSmart APU and On Guard, which the dealer said they would remove. Freightliner in Texas had hundreds of them, they were blowing them out for under $40K. All the lower mileage ones are gone by now, if you find one at another dealer you will pay more.

I ended up with an old Schneider truck because I wanted a 216" wheelbase. Maverick specs nicer trucks than Schneider IMHO.

Maverick does a good job with the equipment. They are right there on 40 in their yard not far from Lonoke.

The only peeve I have is the super singles tire if any. I prefer Duals. So that the contact area is improved in the rain or in the ice.

Im not a Maverick Driver, I interviewed with them twice 10 years ago and it turned out Im black listed from that segement of the inudstry in the US Midwest and that will stay in effect as long the company that imposes it stays in business. Or I become a owner operator with my own authority and bypass it. Neither of which will happen any time soon.

PM Service is due on the truck every 25k, although it is not always a fluids change. Mav shop, TA, and Petro are the options for PMs.

I will say that they are very particular about their equipment and they don't cut corners with regard to its maintenance and repair. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their trucks if the specs met my needs.

They generally seem to rotate the trucks out around the 5yr/500k mark. Right now they are replacing many of the '12s with '17s.

The Fliner dealer on the service road there in NLR between the Pilot and Mav HQ is where a lot of those trucks go. The sales lot right next to Mav HQ was wholesale only last I checked (You'll have to by several trucks and probably have a dealers license there). That FL dealer is the place to check from my experience.

For what it is worth, the owner of Mav is also part owner of the FL dealer you mentioned.

We're allowed to get them serviced at TA/Petro or a Terminal, every 25k miles. Whatever you get it's likely to be worn out and/or previously wrecked. I have a friend that leased with them and he had to put $35k into the first year just to keep it rolling, told me afterwards that he could have bought a new truck for the same investment
