So it's been 3 weeks since the day I was interviewed. They just got done with the reference calls and I'm up for the next stage of the process. Does anyone know what is the next stage and how much long do I need to wait? Thanks!

Not sure exactly but they will have to verify your previous employer's which could take awhile. They are very thorough with their hiring process but I would imagine they will be done soon. I once worked as a casual there and it took them a good month to finish up with the process. ABF is a great company and their hiring process is actually a positive since they are very strict on who they hire. At least that was my experience.

if you have 1 year OTR Van experience would it be easy or difficult to get a LTL doubles job?

Depends on several things. Who's the carrier, Your driving/criminal record, your endorsements and what position. OTR experience alone would not give you brownie points if that is what you are asking.

Technically I have " LTL doubles job " but several factors come into reality, Rarely pull doubles and it's not my primary duty.

Research LTL carriers, Everyone of them is unique, Hard to give a concrete answer.

I just received a copy of the criminal and MVR history from ABF in the mail. Can anyone tell me whats next or how much longer to wait? I think im getting closer and closer to the finish line. Do they still need to call your previous employers at this stage or I'm already past that? Thanks for any inputs.

Your probably at the finish line for the paperwork stuff. Have they contacted you for a road test, drug test, and physical. If not your still a couple weeks away from actually starting. The road test is not a long drawn out process. The drug test takes a couple days to get the results back. If your lucky you may do the drug test and DOT physical the same day at the same location. Good luck and be patient with this place. Its an excellent LTL company to work for and the pay is excellent.

NO, I dont have any experience. The TM said he would put me thru their 6weeks training in Arkansas after HR done with me. So I guess, DOT and drug test will take place there?

It takes them awhile...like 6 weeks or so in my case before I got the green light. Then I quit after about 5 because I couldn't stand the place but that's another story.

Thats a good question. Both of the past and present union companies that hired me had the DOT drug and physical done off premises. I would think they won't put you in finishing school until that is finished. Either way welcome to the union side of trucking. You got yourself into a great company to being your career. ABF has a lot of freight in your area so sitting will not be an issue at all. Good luck I wish you all the best.
