Hi fellows, i'm going to start getting very frugal with my finances, i have been wasting too much money eating out five days a week. I bought a small toaster oven to preheat my food since im going to bring mine every day and save some money to pay off debt. Will a 1000 watt usage of this compact toaster oven using my inverter in my tractor be too much power? do i have to use it only when the truck is running? i only want to preaheat my food for five minutes like rice and stuff. whats your experience with yours?

Biggest problem I had with the toaster oven was waiting for it to cool back down so I could store it. We had a 1500 watt Toaster/Convection oven, Usually no problem with the invertor with the truck off, but if it was dark & we also had lights on, we would idle. Have you looked at one of the small microwaves?? You can usually get one for about $50 at Walmart.

The two food-prep items I love having the most are a small microwave, and I went to Target and got a Super Pot. It can work as a slow cooker, grill, or steamer. It was $30 and I can br cookng meat while heating side dishes in the microwave. Heck, the other night I had a nice steak dinner without ever leaving my truck and had leftovers for the next day too. The super pot was thr best cooking platform I couldve bought. As for power drain from your microwave, it will partly depend in the size of your inverter.

A 1000 watt inverter is too small for a toaster oven.

The toaster Oven is 1000 watts. I will see how much is the inverter. I just want to reheat my food.

Why not use one of those 12V lunchbox ovens? I have one and it works great.

I feel your pain on the eating out. I carry a coleman stove fry pan boil pot and deep pot and coffe pot for it with a dorm fridge freezer, last night we had hamburgers and frys they night before seasoned chicken with swiss chees tonight beef and brocli and some other things in it.( one of those bag meals from walmart) had bacon and eggs this morning. heck I think I gained 10 lbs when I put everything in the truck...lol and the biggest plus besides saving money and eating food to my taste is that my bathroom habbit went back to normal...lol....as for what you are looking at see what size your invertor is. if your toaster is 1000 watts you need 1500 watt invertor. if you run the invertor maxed out the toaster will fight to heat up

Get yourself a little fan either 12v or something like this http://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Zippi-Personal-Fan-Black/dp/B000E19MQ8 and when youre done using the oven just place the fan in front of it with the door open. Couple minutes later and it will be cool. Just a suggestion.
