On a paper log... After you take a 34 Hour Reset. Are all the hours you work the past 7 days in the "hours worked last 7 days" space on your log all 0's? Thank You for your help.

No. You would enter whatever the hours worked were ... I don't think legally you actually need to fill out that anyway. An easier way (at least for me) is to use a full size calendar and write in the bottom of each box how many hours worked that day. Subtract from 70. Result = number of hours available to work at the start of next day. Once I do a reset I put an arrow across and write RESET across it then start with 70 at the top and start again. If I start running recap, its easy, if you get to day 8, say you have 20 hours available to work, you work 12 hours so you would have 8, but now because you are eligible for recap you would add the amount you worked on the day directly above, say it was 8 hours, so next day you'd have 16 ...........

    simple?

The hours worked do not change, but after a reset they are irrelevant regarding your 70... you have a full 70 to use. As mentioned, that portion of any log page is not required by any regulation; company policies may differ.

When you start...if you have a recap on the page just write 34 Hour Re-Set across 4-5 days on the recap...then put 70 on the hours available line...stick it in gear &ride....:)

That is how I do it. I started my 34 hour break at noon yesterday. 2200 tonight would be 34 for example. So I start my log when I get up today but leave all the recap spaces blank. At the stroke of 2200 I make them all look like zeroes. That is unless I go to work before 2200 of course then I would have to put in the corresponding last 7 days hours.

Yes OP. In your recap you can put zeros. I have never kept a recap on my daily pages.

When I was paper the recap was on the edge of the page and I was told it was not part of the official DOT log.

After a 34 reset all were set to zero. Never heard a negative word from company log audit, their third party auditor or at random scale stops with log checks.

I fill out the recap up until the day of the reset.

The next day after the reset I just fill in zeros.

Been through two level 1 and two level 3 inspections doing it that way with no issues.
