Hello everyone. I have recently switched from paper to e-log.
I've got question. What does it mean in Qualcomm elog "hours to be gained "? I've almost run out of 70 hours today and Qualcomm says that my "hours to be gained "are 10 hours. What does it mean?
Does it mean that tomorrow I have extra 10 hours to work?

It won't give you time back thats why the no button or whatever it is lights up.

Hours to be gained are the hours you'll get back ala recap at midnight.
*edit* hours gained in two days should be right under that. You can also pull up the 8 days tab to see what you're getting back beyond the two day mark when a longer trip requires it. -
I'm starting this career soon and a bit concerned how to manage hours. I mean what if you're stuck in traffic with 10 minutes left? or something of that sort?

Qualcomm can be edited by your company which is why I think they are BS. You have to remember that the purpose of logs are not to punish you but they are to be use to keep the company from working you to death.
The hours to be gain question has been answered above.
Now as to stuck in traffic. It depends on which of the clocks you are dealing with.
If you are stuck in traffic and it is the eight hour clock, put yourself in the sleeper and pull over as soon as you can. I have been stuck sitting for over 30 minutes and my clock has reset. This is not legal and you should pull over at the next stop and do a full 30 again. But it works for the Qualcomm.
If it is the eleven hour clock, then you put a notice over the Qualcomm and state that you are extending your 11 hour due to unforeseen traffic problems. If you could have completed the drive in 11 hours in normal conditions then you are okay.
You may not extend your 14 hour clock. Unless you have been ordered to by law enforcement. Trust me, they will order you to go to the nearest safe parking spot. Put the Officers Name, jurisdiction, and badge number in the Qualcomm and proceed. You can call 911 and get that information from them.
Do not let your company give you any order over the Qualcomm that is illegal. A certain Reefer company lets call them L and C, has dispatchers who tell drivers to line 5 somewhere or to creep over so as not to trigger the Qualcomm. Take photos of anytime they do that and save it. You might need it later.terryg247 Thanks this. -
My normal "state provided" truck parking area was within reach easily with 10 min to spare. Well... lo and behold I arrive there and without warning the state has the parking area CLOSED and full of construction equipment. The next truckstop is 15 miles west.
Oh well. I got a violation.
Even the best , and reassessed plans, can go awry.
I can't see stopping an hour early "just in case"... that's asinine.
I made plans. I was good. All fell apart , and there I was , holding the bag.
I'll call safety on Monday morning and own it. But , without leaving production on the table and not having ESP , there was no way to know this.
Not my first rodeo. I don't park on ramps , or shoulders.stevez57305 and tech10171968 Thank this. -

I don't know how it works. Last night there were only 3 hours left to be on duty on my qualcomm and now I have 10 more hours. That is those "hrs gained in 2 days"
