Yesterday at the truck stop I talked to a Quad Graphics company driver just because I was curious about the company. I know they have a big plant near my house, but I never knew more than that. He said it's the best job he can imagine, and he was talking about their O/O side and was talking about a setup I'm not too familiar with, but I wonder if anyone else on here has leased on with a similar contract either at QG or a different carrier. He said that the O/Os only get paid $1.08/mile, but that they have an excellent fuel reimbursement system where the company reimburses the same amount per gallon that they charge at their yard. He also said that the company does repair and maintenance work at the yard for next to nothing, and that they get the same health benefits at company drivers. Has anyone ever leased on to a company like that? I'm currently an independent contractor with a carrier that pays 72% of revenue, and I had never really considered a mileage pay setup, but the idea of $1.08/mile with an enormous fuel refund might not be bad. It almost sounds like the stability and benefits of a company position without the crappy truck or governor. Has anyone on here ever had a contract like that? If so, how did you like it?
