To anyone who’s looking for a tanker yanker company stay the hell away from this one here!!!!!

I’ve been working here for a year in a half now and this will be my final day on the job. Due to the fact that I have for the 6th time, 6th time not received a paycheck for my work or let alone the “Guaranteed Minimum” which all drivers qualify for as a full-time driver with the company. I have tried to give my employer the benefit of the doubt but to no avail I’ve been screwed over again and again.

Well this time I’ve said it’s the straw that broke this camels back and I’ve got to find a more reliable and trustworthy company to provide my time and skills to because this one here doesn’t care. I tried relentlessly to figure out why I never received my paychecks or what circumstances prevented me from receiving the “Guaranteed Minimum” but my requests have fallen on deaf ears whether it was my Dispatcher, Manager, HR Representative, or Payroll.

Therefore I’ve decided to contact the Department of Labor, and an attorney to let them know I can’t sit idle anymore while I’m brushed aside. I have lost out on roughly $7k worth of pay and with 2 small children and a wife I can’t afford to do it any longer.

I have been forced to perform my duties when I was sick, exhausted, underpaid, when I had a bloodclot in my leg, and when my family have been sick or members have passed away. I don’t like to whine or complain more that the next man as I know it is just the nature of the beast as the industry tends to harbor predatory behavior from companies like this. But I need to let other drivers know the severity of this company’s negligence and disregard for their drivers.

I have been coerced to drive hazmat loads with an original BOL then mid-trip have a blind BOL faxed to me containing alternate product names from which I never picked up from the shipper only to deliver to the customer who was unbeknownst of what they were receiving.

I have ran far outside my logs to justify satisfying the customers needs so that our companies owner wouldn’t loose precious contracts all while being told that it’s a “Do It Or Else” situation.

I was told my benefits as the driver would be fully covered by my employer only to find out that in the new year that my benefits had changed and now I was responsible for the tab while never agreeing to the changes or authorizing the deductions from my paycheck.

I feel betrayed and misused as I know many drivers have felt this before, I will pick myself up, dust myself off and keep on trucking but I will not go silently without letting my fellow drivers knowing just a fraction of this company’s dirty deeds.

I have made a review for Indeed which was never approved knowing that the humor and realism in its entirety would only be rejected but I will post it here for a few laughs so we can see the honesty and clarity of what I knew for a long time but didn’t want to accept.

Thanks to all who read this and endured my venting have a good weekend when you get to it and keep your dick in your britches and your truck between the ditches. This is Yardman Jay I’m 10-10 on the side…

    Puryear Indeed Review

Working at Puryear is great for the first few months. But be prepared as reality sets in and jumps you like a mugger in an alleyway.

The onboarding and training is sporadic and completely disorganized. For an organization of this size you would think that management and the C.E.O. Would be more involved in the oversight of this crucial step but it’s as if he said just shotgun it!

The hiring process can take weeks, the office/hq in Raleigh are completely understaffed so normal business processes take longer than expected.

Once your in, the training is 2 days in a classroom watching the typical safety videos required by OSHA.

Once that’s over with you are given a slight and I do mean slight clue as the next steps for your training. Again there is no set guide or game-plan laid out to help ease your woes.

Eventually you are assigned a trainer or (2) and that consists of riding with them for a few days learning the ropes before they eventually assign you your “Well-Maintained“ equipment.

They deal with several clients who’s expectations are far reaching and hardly well paying. Think of it as “1980’s prior to inflation compensation”. As mentioned by others the favoritism within the ranks of the company will be the true determination of where you stand when it comes to your pay, equipment, home-time, and overall success.

The equipment is sub-par at best. If you don’t mind a little brown nosing you may be able to get a shiny new truck and trailer which is suppose to be determined by seniority not favoritism, otherwise your vehicle will have tale tale signs of wear and tear I.e. bad tires, check engine lights, worn brakes, body damage, with no justification for repairing it when you ask.

You are 100% on call at all times rain, shine, snow, hurricane, volcanic eruption, Cuban nuclear crisis whatever the circumstances may be you will report to work or the $1k weekly guarantee will be taken away and there will be shortages on your paycheck. Think of it as you are a salaried employee.

There is no sick days, PTO, or UPT. Only Vacation Time which accrues after 1 year of labor.

The one upside in my honest opinion is health, dental, and life insurance.

Word of advice Trey (Terminal Manager Raleigh), Daniel (Terminal Manager Ashland), Don (CEO Raleigh HQ), and Bill (Dispatch Gallapolis) are very narrow sighted and prefer yes men at their sides if you fall Into this category you will go far otherwise need not apply. Oh and good like receiving any constructive feedback or even a phone call or text message from the first three mentioned you will be reached.

Overall if don’t mind being rode hard and put up wet, cutting corners to make a quick buck, or sniffing sunless holes, then this is the perfect career for you! Ya’ll Come Back Now Ya Hear!

They can't "force" you to do anything. They might make it unpleasant, if you fail to follow orders, but being forced is on the individual.

Six missed paychecks? Man...if a company misses ONE and they don't have that rectified within 24 hours, next time I'm home I'm done. No notice, no warnings. Just done. But SIX? Why??

I know, right?? That’s with ANY COMPANY,regardless of what they specialize in. If they are having problems paying me, you have to wonder what else are they having issues with!
