I’ve purchased 2 new steer tires for my truck, and they spin them at the alignment shop, and show me they’re out of round.
I’m shocked, Michelin tires out of round , I can’t believe it . If Michelin is bad , then what brand is good. I saw it, but I just can’t believe it. I know it’s no way to fix this, but anybody else had this problem.
Purchased 2 Michelin Energy for my steer, and they’re Out Of Round!

They have blems to. Normally does not make it to market. Used to buy their blems for multi axle trailers. Cause they were still a Michelin and you couldn't tell. Who ever sold them to you should take them back no problem. Normally they would not ship a bad tire. But can happen.

What size? Bigger tire can sometimes get mounted crooked. Try to break them down and spin 180 on the rim. Make sure the beads are lubed good.
Sounds impossible, but I have seen it. Especially on bigger sizes.
Also make sure the wheels are true on the hub. Any spoke/ hub wear?Accidental Trucker, Diesel Dave, Big Road Skateboard and 2 others Thank this. -
Did you double check that they’re seated correctly on the wheel?

Do what @Goodysnap said. This is more common then folks believe. Another trick is to air it up in cage of coarse 20 psi over max to make sure it uniforms itself. Then after a few minutes drop back down to normal. Best if done with valve core out so pressure comes down quickly.
On the subject of “Blems”. They are cosmetic defects only like lighter then normal or uneven lettering and numbering in the sidewall molding. Sometimes the stamping is blurred. You’d be very hard pressed to find it sometimes. Not a structural defect. Doing that can lead to recalls.Goodysnap, 48Packard, jamespmack and 1 other person Thank this. -
There should be a molded line all the around the tire less than a 1/4 inch from edge of the rim, take a tire depth gage and go around both sides of the tire line to rim to see if it's on the rim even

When I drive 55mph steering wheel wobble left right, and I had no idea. I thought maybe the rim, or the drum. NOPE. It’s the tire.
Thing is , the shop said they gone have to send the tires back to Michelin, and I have to wait to get my refund. In the mean time I have to buy 2 more tires and wait. This guy said to give only one back, because if Michelin say one is ok, I’ll end up with an extra tire. Go figures…
On a good side I’m happy that I have found the problem, because it was driving crazy, but… -
