Purchase Cat ET Package?

Would be interested in this info to.....

I've "heard" that cat won't sell et to a one truck owner for any price . But that is hearsay.

Any hardware you buy from trucksdiag.com is a cheap Chinese knock off. The Xtruck and Nexiq that they sell are Nexiq clones that eventually stop working and cannot be fixed. When it comes to hardware, spend the money for a real Nexiq.

ET licenses are not transferable, if you buy a laptop with ET installed, it's no longer legal. Even if it was legally activated, it's not legal for you to own. Any diagnostic laptop that you buy online is pretty much guaranteed to have illegal software. It is the real software, just cracked or they used an illegal kegen to activate it. I'm not judging, just making sure that you know what you'll be getting.

 

What are the legal options........? From what I understand - none.

 

The legal option is to kiss your local dealers ### to get you a copy. If they choose to help you, which all depends on the dealer, you'll give them an absurd amount of money every year for a subscription.

That is also a big factor in the decision, you decide which is the lesser of two evils

The only thing I'll stand firm on is hardware, avoid the cheap knockoffs, pay the extra money for a real Nexiq, Dearborn, Noregon, etc. I'm partial to the Nexiq USB link, since I've been using them for years without issue.
