I just purchased this 2005 Freightliner Century has a PTO and wet kit. The part I have no clue about says Open, Stop, Close Trans POS what is this for? The PTO is a Muncie TG8s U6807 P1PX
I'm trying to haul crude can I just remove this? My other truck just engages and disengages and doesn't have this box.![]()

Looks like possibly for a belly or side dump. "Open" obviously opens the gate. "Stop" is more of a "hold" where the gate is neither opening nor closing. "Close Trans. Pos." Would close the gate, and where you should have thw switch while transporting the trailer (transportation position). Appears to be an electrical box, which means there's probably a return line on your truck as well as an extra electrical plug on the back of the cab to the trailer. Fire up the pump and it starts circulating the hydraulic oil, and the valves to control the dumping are on the trailer and are electrically controlled.
That's my best guess...
Looks like the other switch is a simple on/off for the pto, while the controls are in the 2nd box that you're asking about. My wet kit is all 1 control box...turn it on, then you have "Raise", "Hold", and "Lower".
Not sure what all you'd need to haul crude. It'll pull the trailer just fine, but if you need a pump it probably won't work. Be prepared to buy another PTO that works the pump you need.Ezrider_48501 and brian991219 Thank this. -
I appreciate the response that electric box didn't look right to me. I figured it was for an end dump -
Usually end dumps have an integrated switch like mine, which will disengage the PTO when you lower the bed. In an end dump, the oil returns through the same line it was sent through, and if the pump isn't disengaged it will damage it. I've also got a return line and electrical switches for side/belly dumps...start the pump, put the PTO switch into "Raise" to start pumping fluid, then use the electrical switch to control the flow through the valves on the trailer. It appears that your constantly pumps (sort of like the hydraulic PTO on a wrecker or knuckleboom truck) while the PTO is engaged, and the electricals control the flow through valves located on the trailer. I suppose you could look and see if there's a crazy looking valve mounted somewhere on the truck, too...my truck had one that I removed (never did figure out exactly which ports did what)...easier to just set up a simple truck for what I was going to need.
