I know becoming an instructor for extra money is doing it for the wrong reason. That being said, how are psd/tnt instructors paid? My company instructor mentioned bonuses for passing the cdl test on first try, didn't say much other than that. My company trainer said he was just paid miles.
I'd like some specifics on current pay for psd and tnt instructors, particularly on the lease side and anything else that could be useful for someone considering training.
Thanks.

From what I hear fr psd phase instructors get $300 per week while students are on truck up to 5 weeks I think then if your student pass on the first try the instructor gets $8-900 and the students get $250 that's whammy instructor is telling me I just wrapped upped and about to enter TNT

One guy claims he buys all the food and tells his guy that feeding him is worth $250 of compensation. Myself? I rarely broach $80 a week in food bills.
They convince the trainee there is no way to survive their first winter without sticking it out with them. One person was pretty happy that with the student he got lined up to start early this Summer, that the guy would be around at least till March for the "valuable experience" (at slave wages in my opinion)
Run Company, I say. Even when you upgrade as a full driver and stick with your company trainer (if he wants) you'll be making at least .21/mile teaming with an extra .05 for every mile over 3500. Even if you trainer doesn't want to take you full team, find some other company guy to team up with. Hell, go solo after upgrade and its .41 mile.
I challenge any Prime LO to convince the poeple here that letting someone upgrade and paying them .15 is fair. BTW, if the truck is negative no one gets paid. The LO whole business plan is to run fewer miles at a greater profit, while his "employee's" entire compensation plan is to run as many miles as he can to get paid more. The two goals oppose each other.
Here is the funny part. Most Prime drivers here on TTR say that company reefer drivers average 2500-2800 miles a week. I am in total agreement with that. I Get at least 2700 or more every week.
Over there in the secret Facebook group the LO guys are claiming and convincing each other that Company Solo reefer is averaging about 2000 miles to make their slave labor more palatable to the guys looking in from the outside, and I'm sure they are telling the same tales to their trainees. -
Trainees in TNT are paid $600 or .12cpm whichever is greater. This is while they are still not qualified to run solo. After they upgrade its upto the trainee what he does. I think its disengenious to say the LO schemes to pay the trainee slave wages. These rates are set by Prime and it comes out of the LO's pocket to boot.

okay if you come to prime with CDL you are a C seat 500/.10 for 5 weeks then 600/.12 for remainder of training. if you go thru PSD program when you are on s TNT truck you are a B1 600/.12

Hijacked! Guilty? Oops, yes. Runaway train? Fo sho

What Chuck is saying isn't far off from the truth. Any LO telling someone 12-cpm is a good deal post training is just looking for a truck slave.

I'm a LO I tell all my guys that I train to get their own truck so they can make good $$$$$$
ironpony Thanks this. -
