PS3/PS4 setup, good invertors to use, and wireless Internet

Hey, I decided to join this forum because most of my online searching is turning up fruitless on my particular situation. I'm in my first solo company job with Transport America and drive a Freightliner Cascadia Evolution (2016 I believe) and I'm trying to get a little less bored whenever I have downtime as my phone is a crock of crap as of lately.

I have a 32" flatscreen and a PlayStation 3 with me presently and I need some help on crafting my setup. The TV works fine on any of my invertors (I have a 120W and a 300W), but the PS3 immediately shuts off and resets as soon as I hit the power button, regardless of which invertor is plugged into which cigarette lighter. I'm very undereducated when it comes to electronics and I was wondering if I could have a little assistance.

As a side note, I'm also curious as to what everybody uses for wireless internet in their trucks. I'm shopping around for something I could potentially do some online gaming at an affordable price.

    Thanks for the read.

I wouldn't recommend it. At best you will need to scale down your setup. That 12V power socket or wiring just isn't designed to push the amps necessary for all of that stuff. You are also going to hate carrying all of that stuff around when you have to change trucks or take hometime without worrying about someone stealing it.

My former team mate had a PS3 and 20" TV. In the 3 months that he used it, the power socket had melted potentially creating a fire hazard.

I had a high end gaming laptop. It was big, heavy, the fans were extremely loud, the battery only lasted an hour on the most conservative settings, and I had to idle the truck in order to use it. It just wasn't very practical or convenient.

    To start:
PlayStation 3 technical specifications - Wikipedia

You're just barely covering the power requirements of the PS3, not the tv. It will probably take a 700W to run the setup reliably, and then it might not be happy plugged into the lighter socket. In which case you'll need to find a heavier connection(fuse panel) to draw power from.

Yes, need close to 400 Watts for the PS3, plus say another 100 Watts for the tv. So an inverter of at least 500 Watts, an inverter that size needs to be wired directly to the batteries.
Also I would recommend a pure sine wave inverter.

  6. I ran a 1000w for ps1-ps4 old school tv 32" to flat screen 30" tv. Fuse between batteries and inverter.
Flat screens have as an example LED or plasma. Use less power Compared to the Old capacitors monitors/TV's.

Always have truck running if your using certian items. (Mircowave, coffee pot and even electric Skillet)

Keep in mind how.many batteries you have. Some trucks have as little as 2 series 31 batteries. All the way up to a set of 4.

Don't be the guy in the truck stop who burns his truck to the ground from bad routing of cables to no fuses.
    Be safe

    Game on.

Side note. I had the game consoles cause of dual use as movie player as well. Why have multiple units in truck.

Good point, and I definitely wouldn't have them all plugged in at once. The PS3 is what I really want to work and I was hoping I'd be able to walk into this Loves where I'm spending my 34hr to help waste time. My company may offer some shop work to install an invertor for me by way of the battery which may be my best bet, but aggravatingly I don't have enough hours to get to one. I do have battery cables coming up behind the drivers seat for easy installation but I don't have the knowledge or know how to do anything with them.

Game consoles should be as illegal as dope and alcohol in a truck.

I was going to have a gaming system, but I waited till I was on my own for about a month, till I saw how my down time was going to work. I am so glad I never brought it with me. Ended up selling it. On my 10s I was always so worn out that I would eat and go to bed. Sleep was always a priority for me. Did 2 34's on the road in 2 years. Both times I watched a movie on the lap top.

    Lol explain your reasoning?

I typically do have a decent amount of down time, whether that be sitting in a dock getting loaded/unloaded for a few hours, a day gets cut short due to planning procedures, or the more obvious occasional 34 hour reset. Plus I also simply require a little less sleep than some people. On a normal 10hr break I probably won't game much if at all, but I very rarely ever sleep more than 7 hours under any circumstances and feel rested all day.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Video games are for children and mindless zombies trying to avoid life. We have enough walking dead out here.
