I just came out of a Volvo into a new 2015 Prostar. Wow, the Prostar rides nice and smooth. But, it sways side to side, on bumpy roads it feels like the trailer is pushing the rear of the truck out and it tries to jack knife. I've already set of the stability control twice where as in the Volvo no issues. The truck is nice but this is a big of a problem. Anyone else feel the same way?

    Veryblessed Thanks this.

I always think prostars are pice of crap where i work at we have 2014 prostars one of them had a mechanical issue which was that one of our driver was driving and he blowed the horns for whatever reasons and the fifth wheel was relased and the trailer was gone it was a mess i saw a few people from the dealer came to look at it the driver was not at fault because it was a mechanical problem and they fix it but i know the truck number i will never drive this truck

how the heck does blowing a horn release a fifth wheel? fifth wheels have a large pin to pull outside the truck, not a switch or button inside the truck.

I drove 2 prostars and I did like them very much, my only complaint was the heavy clutch they had. I now drive a cascadia and love it.

The newer Prostars do have an in-cab fifth wheel release that's only supposed to work with the tractor brakes applied.

I read there was a recall on the in cab release on the prostars for that very reason, the trucks with the in cab release could malfunction and drop a trailer .

well that is retarded in my opinion, I dont think a release belongs anywhere inside a cab, you have to get out to lower the landing gear and take the lines off so its not that much more time consuming to pull a release....

That's true, but wasn't my point. The other guy saying that Prostars didn't have a way to release the trailer from the cab.

Probably had the air lines crossed somewhere between the switch and the cylinder under the fifth wheel. The auto releases are nice, don't have to worry about accidentally touching the apron and getting grease on your clothes. I never use mine though cause it jams in the release position and have to get the ole hammer out to get it to retract.

Back to the original topic, does anyone feel the same way about the stability of these? Going over bad roads, the rear suspension has trouble stayed planted on the ground and likes to walk in a different path from the front. It has set the stability control off I believe twice, the first time it lasted for about 1 second, then the second time I glanced down and saw the light on for a split second. I like the Pro Star, I just wish it didn't have so much wind noise and they could do something about the rear suspension.
