What people call the 8 is actually the 8LL is a vocational 10 speed with 10 distinct gears and. The low gear is super low and hitting the low range switch will shift the low into a gear higher then low yet lower then 1st.

Eaton's own chart is misleading because the 8LL has only two reverses not three.

Anyway you don't need either of the low gears taking a test. Start and first or second and forget the low gears are there. They are just super low gears for spreading gravel or feeding a paver.

During a dot road test you can skip gears, but you have to double clutch.

And dot will require you to downshift, for me it was twice. Both times from 10 to 9th.

Also, If you touch a curb, it is an automatic fail.

Are you sure? Our triaxles are 8with deep reduction. I shift the triaxles like I do my regular tractor with a 10 in it.

Only ever used deep reduction once, while stuck in some deep Doo Doo.

Never mind had a brainfart. You are right.

I was thinking of something completely different. But yeah, OP, DONT READ THIS. It'll confuse you with the blue button and splitting the low side.
