I have been seeing a lot of drivers out here lately that can't seem to figure out how to deploy their triangles properly. The black base twists 90 degrees so they don't fall over...

Is that your truck? Making a post about proper deployment? Your kidding right?
    On a normal road...
    10 foot
    100 foot
    200 foot

    On a hill
Two behind you, 1 on other side of hill for approaching traffic from opposite side.

    Same for a curve.

They never do, and those break the first time a big vehicle blast by a few feet away. Essentially crappy.

There is a prescribed diagram with those things how to deploy them correct, but very very few will do that or take that time or walk that far back.

No not my truck, just a stock pic to show how they are supposed to be. Too many "drivers" can't seem to figure this out.

Nowadays you need a one day class and a certificate to show qualifications to do such things. Otherwise modern people just shrug their shoulders and claim, “ not my job, I thought the service truck does that”.

Every time I see triangles set out they are different. Never see the same set up twice.

I prefer the "single use" models... I see them set up by the side of the road, but no breakdown in sight.

Placement of these warning triangles is covered BY FMCSA rule. I have seen drivers violated by DOT cops with violations listed along with tickets for not doing this properly. Last ticket I seen was about 6 months ago came from I 10 near Indio California. I was told the fine with court costs was almost $600. Just saying!

Edited to add the full part of §392.22 There are some exceptions.

I do this daily, and per the previous post, I was always WRONG.
Never have I put one out in front.
I also put a cone by the bed corner of my Rollback, and use flares at night,
I hustle to get outta Dodge quick, so I go back as far as I can, possibly 150 feet,
But guess that's why I read TTR, learn something every day. Thanks!

    Lepton1, Blackshack46 and delta5 Thank this.
