Progressive decided to double my premium demanding that I use my home address instead of my business address. My home address is not where I operate my business from. I do not garge my truck at my home address and there is no place to park a truck let alone a truck and trailer at my home address. But Progressive Insurance insist that I must use my home address not where my business is located and where I actually park my truck. They claim that I cannot have a home address further than 130 miles from my business address. Both home address and business address is in the same state. My insurance agent is fighting with them but they are not willing to return my premium to its original quote.

Ya progressive sucks, shop around. All I can tell you is they are now the big dogs in the Commercial insurance department. One thing you can do is change your cdl address to your business address. Maybe that will fix the issue.

Progressive lowered my rates in the tune of 2 grand in past 2 years. My rates are lower than most people I run with. However I’m a local hauler

Are you a llc or sole proprietorship?

The guy in the building I have my office in has the same issue, he is being forced to use his home address which has the highest rates in the country but not his business address which has very low rates. He said he expects his insurance to double on renewal. He is an llc.

    I'm an LLC.

I'm not sure how they are doing this and even if it's legal. I'm sure that mega carriers aren't using the home address of their CEO's/Founders as the basis for their insurance premiums.

OOIDA told me that they don't even use zip codes to determine their insurance rates, they go by the state. However, I do not qualify for their insurance plans because they want you to have been a company driver for 4 years. I will have 2 years experience at the end of February.

I shopped around and Progressive was the cheapest quote. At first my premium was quoted at 11K with $2K down. So paid the $2k and paid my first months insurance bill for a total of $3K.

Then Progressive called me and told me that they were increasing my premium to $24K and I needed to come up with another $3,400 and my new monthly rate would increase from $1,050 to $2,300.

When I questioned why my premium increased over 50%, they told me that they find it hard to believe that my business is located 130 miles from my home address. I explained why my business is located 130 miles from my home and that I have never parked my truck at my home address. When I go home, I park my truck on a secured gated security lot and I walk across the street to Enterprise to rent a car and go home. I live in my truck so I'm really never at my home address. In fact, the address on my CDL is my mother's house. That's because I lived with my mother prior to getting my CDL.

I provided proof that my truck is parked on this lot and I have changed all information with the FMCSA and my state except for my CDL.

But Progressive is ignoring my lease for my office, the letter stating where I park my truck, and now they just requested the past 90 days of my ELD's to prove that I don't park my truck at my mother's house.

This just upsets me because right now, I'm working on other business issues which if my monthly insurance rate goes up to $2,300 per month, this puts a financial strain on my business. The money I gave Progressive, I could have went with another insurance company that would not be treating me like a cash app, I only went with Progressive because they were the cheapest down payment quoted. Now they have turned into the highest quote only after I have signed and paid my money.
