Hi, I've heard that brokers sometimes have their own private load boards. Is this true and how common is this? I'm interested in diving into this industry and was wondering if brokers just mainly use global loads such as on DAT or do brokers mainly use private load boards?

It depends on the size of the brokerage, the larger they are the better chance they have their own load board. Almost every broker out there uses DAT and/or other public load boards to some extent though.

There is, but they typically just go to DAT. When your brokerage is small any additional overhead is tough on your business, and realistically I would imagine it would be hard to compete with the capacity per dollar spent that DAT offers by selling private load boards to brokers.

There are formats out there for not a whole lot of money for a broker to have his own load board by the end of the day.
