I didn't ask for follow-up information (and i don't intend to), but i just got this message today saying that any new trainees that finish training and upgrade to a full position will be required to work teams instead of going solo.

Most likely only applies to company drivers, though. In my experience, dispatchers at prime don't always communicate clearly, so it's possible there's missing or incorrect information.

Whow, wondering if they're simply trying to save on their overhead expenses? It would make sense in these times and shows a sign of the times in the industry.

Does that only apply to the reefer division? I can't imagine teaming flatbed, tanker, or hopper. Freight's down, so its more profitable to run teams than solos. When the money isn't quite as good, it may better to run more miles if possible.

People might only see the $$ forget your dealing with another person sometimes a complete stranger sometimes it leads to terrible outcomes. The channel I provided above hes done a few videos where either trainer has killed the student or the student has killed the driver. Also a team member has killed the other team driver one even kept driving using that drivers login after he was killed while the body was in the truck still. Me personally I don't trust anyone but my g/f to do that with and she won't drive commercially ever she said that said. OTR is not a path I could ever take again but even if I wanted to the other side is sleeping they have done many studies at Stanford that majority people sleeping while another drive don't get the deep sleep they need leaving them fatigued
rather anyone does this they need think long and hard about the pros and cons dealing with another individual and a sleeping and lastly are they gonna put a male and a female or something else with you?

I have thought about going to Prime in the past, earlier in my career, and I'm glad that I did not to avoid being forced into team driving.

For anyone who comes upon this, it was not a permanent situation, and it had to do with a lack of solo positions during a period, the options were team drive or dont work until a position opened, and it appeared to have been about all of a month. You can drive Solo with Prime still.

I had the same thing happen in 2019. They just upgraded training to 50,000 miles and then when I got past 45,000 we got a message saying I was required to do an additional 3 months of Winter Training ( they had already asked if I wanted to team for more money or solo) so now instead of getting team pay I would be stuck at my $700 a week training pay. I had a friend from class at the same time go team and got upgraded early at 45,000 miles and got team pay. I hit 3 months and left for another starting company as a solo driver technically never finished my TNT training I also never paid them back the cost of the school because I left.
