I'm sure it's been posted before, but I am a newbie. Help me out, please. Changing careers, as Covid killed business I've owned for 10 years. Thinking about going to Prime for my CDL, and staying there for the required year for experience and learning the ropes. Depending on the economy and my success in the industry, eventually I would like to lease a truck and/or become an owner operator. Any advice and opinions on Prime Inc. would be greatly appreciated. Suggestions are also welcome. Please be nice. Thank you.

Bottom feeding mega. Get your CDL on your own and you won't be beholden to a company that treats it's employees like garbage. If you tie yourself to a company for a year without knowing how they will run you and treat you, you're literally running down a dark hall as fast as you can not knowing where or when you'll hit the closed door at the end.

CDL licenses are like parachutes. Don't get it the cheapest way, get it the best way.

I hear you, but I've noticed most companies won't hire a newbie with zero time behind the wheel. Any suggestions?

The state pays the tuition for cdl school, free to you and there's no contract or obligation on your part.
The state only does this for the schools that meet certain criteria and some allow students to use the GI Bill if a veteran.
