That PrePass Plus device is pretty handy, yet pretty expensive. Truckers pay North of $300 in static fees just to have the thing. Yes, you bypass a BUNCH of scales nationwide, but unless you run in the Northeast, the electronic toll collecting aspects of the device aren't utilized, which is wasteful in a way, because you can score discounted tolling that way and you're paying for more than you really need. My question is, if all you're concerned about is scales because you never run in the NE, is there an alternative device (less costly) whose sole function is to ByPass the scales? A lot of you might say I'm being nitpicky with "a cost of doing business" stuff, worrying about the "small" stuff, but that's what business is all about, saving money when you can. Any responses appreciated.
PrePass Plus...is there an alternative?

Yes it's called prepass. It's like $15 a month. You can also get a best pass, which is similar to prepass plus. If you get an Ipass from IL for tolls, it will work on EZPass tolls and it only replenishes when you use it.
SheepDog and RebelYeller5 Thank this. -
Yes, the PLUS stands for added NE electronic tolling. I had a Homer Simpson moment there. Looked into it deeper, it's $17.95 for PrePass and $15.75 from some outfit that's not quite as good called DriveWyze, so there's nothing under $10 a month. Thanks for the response.

hmm
Guess Ohio, Illinois, Indiana is part of the Northeast as well?
didn't know that. -
i actually like the drivewyze. and might even subscribe once it gets integrated into the copilot gps app.
my only problem, is not enough states that i run in. if they ever pick up cali. i'm defentily all over it. as that's where most of our hauls go to.
looking at their webight right now. it says nationwide. talk about false advertising. LOL. -
Yes, it's a shame that DriveWyze has so many gaps and omitted areas where PrePass has capabilities. I like the idea of using an Android or Apple App. to get it done, instead of some PrePass inspired gadget that you have to have FedEx'd to some Truckstop someplace and then ship back if you switch companies. DriveWyze has the right idea.

Prepass is under $15/month with Ooida membership

Paying the $15 for prepass and I save well over that by not having to stop and start several times a day. I would save even more but I haul a lot of oversize.
double yellow Thanks this. -
